Skittles Teams Up with "The Office" Star for Summer Campaign

Skittles, known for its vibrant rainbow and playful personality, is launching a new campaign embracing the simple joy of eating a handful of candy. The campaign, playfully titled "MFFLP The Rainbow," is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the popular trend of Skittles fans indulging in the candy's fruity flavor explosion.

"According to numerous online forums, a popular trend among Skittles fans is the communal joy of eating Skittles by the handful," says Patrick Zeng, marketing director at Skittles parent Mars Canada. "We thought about how having a mouthful of Skittles can provide a playful escape from social interactions. This aligns with Skittles' brand essence of providing a fun and flavorful escape from reality, encouraging people to enjoy life's moments, especially during the busy summer months."

To amplify this message, Skittles partnered with Creed Bratton, the quirky and lovable character from the hit TV show "The Office." Known for his eccentric personality and aversion to work, Creed perfectly embodies the carefree spirit that Skittles aims to promote. The collaboration features a mockumentary-style video showcasing Creed's unique perspective on life, where he humorously shares his own personal "MFFLP" moments – a playful take on “Out of Office” messages.

"Known best for his role in one of North America’s most famed TV comedies [The Office], Creed humorously depicted an eccentric attitude and aversion to work, making him an ideal partner to connect with the Gen Z demographic," Zeng tells Muse.

The campaign, which will live on Creed's and Skittles' social media channels, encourages fans to share their own "MFFLP The Rainbow" moments by tagging @Skittles and using the hashtag #MFFLPTheRainbow. For an extra dose of fun, Skittles is also hosting a contest where participants can visit skittlesooo.ca to generate unique "Out of Office" messages and enter for a chance to win up to $10,000 towards a summer escape.

"Our favorite part was shooting the moose scene," shared Zeng. "As Canadians, the moose is a quintessential animal. Training a native Californian like Creed on the different sounds and mannerisms of the moose was hilarious. Creed put his own spin on it, creating some unforgettable and funny moments."

With its playful approach and relatable message, Skittles' "MFFLP The Rainbow" campaign is sure to resonate with audiences, reminding everyone to embrace the simple joys in life and take a break from the daily grind.
