Simpsons Predict Again: Lisa Simpson Becomes President, Just Like Kamala Harris?

The Simpsons have struck gold again, with fans noticing a striking resemblance between Lisa Simpson's future as President of the United States and the current Vice President, Kamala Harris. In a season 11 episode titled "Bart to the Future," a scene depicts Lisa taking the presidential oath of office, dressed in a purple blazer with pearl accessories – eerily similar to Harris' recent attire.

This uncanny prediction has set the internet ablaze, with many crediting the show's uncanny ability to foresee real-life events. Show writer Al Jean, who penned the episode, took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the "prediction," posting a side-by-side image of Lisa and Harris, both sporting the same attire.

This prediction comes just days after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election in 2024, endorsing Harris as his potential successor. In a social media post, Biden expressed his appreciation for Harris' "extraordinary partnership" and highlighted her qualifications for the presidency.

"I believe today what I always have: that there is nothing America can't do - when we do it together," Biden stated.

This isn't the first time The Simpsons have seemingly predicted real-world events. Previous episodes have depicted Richard Branson's space flight, the January 6th Capitol riot, and even Cypress Hill's recent performance with the London Symphony Orchestra.

While some might chalk it up to coincidence, showrunner Matt Selman acknowledges that the show's writers intentionally incorporate current events and cultural trends into their storylines. "Luckily the world keeps delivering things that need reflecting on in the Springfield mirror," Selman explained. However, he also emphasized the importance of finding fresh perspectives within familiar themes: “You can't cross off emotional family storytelling just because you've told those emotional family stories before, but you have to have something new to say about the outside world.”

Whether you believe in The Simpsons' prophetic powers or simply appreciate their sharp social commentary, one thing is certain: the show continues to be a cultural touchstone, reflecting and sometimes even predicting the complexities of our world. You can catch up on all the Simpsons' antics and potential predictions on Disney+ and Hulu.
