Savannah's birthday bash comes amidst a period of significant family upheaval. In July, a judge granted her mother, Julie Chrisley, a new appeal hearing in her tax evasion and fraud case, leading to the vacation of her seven-year sentence due to insufficient evidence. Julie is set to return to the Atlanta courthouse on 25th September to face a new sentencing.
Julie and her husband, Todd Chrisley, whose sentence has been upheld, were originally indicted in 2019, alongside their accountant, for financial crimes. They were accused of securing $30 million in bank loans through fraudulent means and then filing for bankruptcy to avoid repayment. Despite maintaining their innocence, they were found guilty on all 12 counts in 2022 and began serving their combined 19-year prison sentence in January 2023. Their sentences were subsequently reduced in September 2023, with Todd currently scheduled for release in September 2032.
Savannah, who has been navigating the legal and emotional complexities of her family's situation, recently opened up about the difficulties of supporting her mother during her podcast *Unlocked*. Acknowledging the potential emotional challenges Julie may face upon her return, Savannah highlighted the need for support and understanding.
