Sabrina Carpenter Breaks Chart Record with the Beatles, Releases New Album on 'The Tonight Show'

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter achieved a remarkable feat on Thursday, becoming the first artist to have two songs debut within the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 since the legendary Beatles. This momentous achievement was revealed on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", coinciding with the release of Carpenter's sixth studio album, "Short n' Sweet".

Dressed in a dazzling blue sparkly outfit, the 25-year-old singer was greeted with an enthusiastic "This is your summer! This is the summer of Sabrina Carpenter!" by host Jimmy Fallon. Carpenter, visibly thrilled, thanked Fallon and expressed her joy at being on the show.

Fallon then shared the news of Carpenter's chart-topping success, highlighting the popularity of her singles "Espresso" and "Please Please Please" on Spotify. Carpenter's response was a mixture of disbelief and humour. "The Beatles one sounds fake," she chuckled, "But there's one of me and four of them. So I don't understand. The math doesn't math."

Fallon, impressed by Carpenter's achievement, asked how she felt about being mentioned in the same sentence as the iconic band. "Very cool," Carpenter replied, "That's an understatement. I don't really have the words for it. I'm just so grateful that you guys are listening."

The conversation then turned to a humorous anecdote from Carpenter's past, a tweet she had posted back in 2016 about her love for espresso. Fallon, noting the prophetic nature of the tweet, suggested that Carpenter might have a knack for predicting the future.

"So I was 15 drinking espresso, which says a lot about my parents or me I don't know," Carpenter joked.

Following the discussion, Fallon asked Carpenter about her favourite tracks from her new album, "Short n' Sweet." Carpenter expressed a particular fondness for "Taste," with its accompanying music video set to be released the next day.

"It does really feel like a self-titled album to me in a weird way," Carpenter said, "It really just feels like all of these stories and memories is very much like blunt, very forward, very fun and just some of the best memories I've had over the last two years of writing it. So I'm so excited for everyone to hear it."

Fallon, in agreement with Carpenter's assessment, acknowledged the album's strong appeal. He then shifted the focus to a photo Carpenter had posted from the "Taste" music video shoot, revealing that the other woman in the image was fellow actress Jenna Ortega. Carpenter confirmed this, sharing her excitement for the video's release and stating that it was her personal favourite so far.

The interview concluded with Carpenter discussing her upcoming "Short n' Sweet" arena tour, which kicks off on 23 September at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. "I'm so small and the stage is so big so I don't really know what I will do other than I want it to be the best show for everybody that's attending," she remarked.

Carpenter concluded her appearance with a live performance of her hit song "Please Please Please," showcasing her vocal prowess on a white grand piano, barefoot.

Looking ahead, Carpenter is set to perform at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, scheduled for 10 September at the UBS Arena in New York. She is nominated for six Moonperson trophies, including Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best Pop, along with technical awards for Best Editing, Best Direction, and Best Art Direction.

As Carpenter's star continues to rise, her recent chart-topping success and upcoming tour promise a bright future for the talented young artist.
