Prince William and Prince Harry, brothers and sons of King Charles, attended a memorial service for their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, on Thursday. The service took place at St Mary's Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, a short distance from the royal Sandringham Estate.
Prince Harry travelled from his home in the US to join his brother at the service. While a source confirmed the brothers' presence, a church warden, who wished to remain anonymous, painted a picture of a warm and intimate gathering. âIt was wonderful that both princes were able to attend their uncleâs memorial service yesterday at St Maryâs Church," they told the BBC. "The service was a lovely family occasion celebrating the life of such a special man. Many friends were also present and also many members of the St Maryâs Church family."
Despite their shared attendance, The Sun reported that the brothers "kept their distance" during the service and were not seen speaking to each other. This observation comes amid ongoing reports of a "rift" within the royal family. The brothers have not been publicly seen together in the UK since 2023.
Lord Fellowes, married to Lady Jane Spencer, Princess Diana's sister, for over 40 years, passed away recently. The couple had three children together. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Prince Harry has previously visited the UK this year. He travelled in February to see his father, King Charles, and again in May to attend the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for injured service personnel.
Kensington Palace has not commented on the memorial service, and the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has not responded to a request for comment.
