Romford's Ostrich Enigma: Could This Be Another Banksy?

A potential new Banksy artwork has emerged in Gidea Park, featuring three ostriches huddled around a red telephone box. The piece, spotted on the corner of Crossways this morning, has sparked speculation amongst local residents and social media users.

If confirmed as a Banksy, the ostriches would mark his tenth piece in London in just nine days. The artist has been on a whirlwind spree across the capital, leaving a trail of animal-themed street art in his wake.

The Gidea Park artwork has garnered particular attention due to its location next to The Picture Frame Galley, a shop specialising in framing. Jane Keane, a local resident, noted the poetic irony of the artwork's placement, stating: "Oh and on the site of a former mural that had to be taken down which I thought was a pity since it was next to a shop that sells modern art… Well that is wonderfully poetic… Love that it’s framed too!"

The Ship, a local pub in Gidea Park, also posted a photo of the potential Banksy on social media, asking "Is it a real one… Banksy?"

The possibility of a new Banksy in Romford has captured the imagination of many, following a series of confirmed works across London. These include monkeys, elephants, a wolf, and a cat, all installed overnight and causing a frenzy of excitement.

The latest confirmed Banksy appeared on the shutters of London Zoo last night, depicting a gorilla lifting them up, allowing a number of birds to escape.

Banksy typically announces his works at 1pm each day, but he has already confirmed the London Zoo piece this morning. The mystery surrounding the Gidea Park ostriches, however, remains unresolved.

Whether these three ostriches are another addition to Banksy's ever-growing portfolio remains to be seen. Time, and the artist's confirmation, will tell.
