Rockstar Snubbed: Airbnb Bans The Who Drummer Over Party Plans

Zak Starkey, son of Beatles legend Ringo Starr and drummer for both Oasis and The Who, has been banned from renting an Airbnb property in Buckinghamshire after revealing his plans for a rockstar-filled party.

The musician was hoping to celebrate his wife Sharna Liguz's 40th birthday at a six-bedroom house in the Chilterns. However, his rock 'n' roll reputation appears to have preceded him, with the Airbnb hosts cancelling his booking after learning of the planned bash.

Starkey, 58, had visited the property before his planned stay to take a look around. During this visit, he confided in the cleaners about his party plans, which were to include a star-studded guest list including Liam Gallagher and Johnny Marr of The Smiths.

Starkey told The Mirror: "The Airbnb hosts cancelled after Googling me and seeing Oasis and The Who - the two worst-behaved bands in the history of rock 'n' roll. It would look great on a T-shirt."

However, the Airbnb hosts have claimed the cancellation wasn't due to the guests' notoriety. They told The Mirror: "Zak booked our property through Airbnb last week, saying it was to be a three-day getaway from the kids for his wife's 40th birthday. He then said it was really important to see the property beforehand, so he actually came while the property was being cleaned. Based on the conversation he had with the cleaners, it was clear that he was planning to host a party, which is unfortunately not permitted under Airbnb rules. Airbnb then subsequently cancelled his booking."

Despite the setback, Starkey and his wife have managed to find a new venue for their party at the last minute. Starkey described his wife as "absolutely gutted" about missing out on the Airbnb in Cadmore End, but they remain in good spirits.

MailOnline has contacted Starkey's representatives for comment.

Zak Starkey is the eldest child of Ringo Starr, born Richard Starkey, and his first wife, Maureen Cox. He has been The Who's full-time drummer since their 1996 Quadrophenia Tour and joined Oasis in 2004 following the departure of Alan White.

Starkey and Sharna, also known as Sshh, married in 2022 in a star-studded ceremony at the Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood. The couple, who chose their 12-month-old daughter Luna Lee Lightnin's birthday to get married, were given away by Ringo and Sharna's father, Andrzej Ligu. Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Johnny Marr served as best men for the ceremony, although Marr was unable to attend in person and appeared via video call. Reggae star Pato Banton officiated the ceremony, the first of two, with the couple later celebrating in Jamaica and the UK.

While the Airbnb cancellation may have dampened their plans for a weekend getaway, it appears the couple's rock 'n' roll spirit remains strong, with the party set to continue despite the change in venue.
