American actor Michael Madsen was arrested in Malibu, California on Saturday on suspicion of domestic battery, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies responded to a reported "family disturbance" incident shortly after midnight. A woman alleged that her husband, Madsen, had pushed her and locked her out of their residence.
Madsen, known for his roles in Quentin Tarantino films such as Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, was subsequently taken into custody. He was later released on bail, with a bond set at $20,000 (£15,400). The 66-year-old actor has not publicly commented on the allegations.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House for potential prosecution. No further details have been released by the sheriff's department.
A representative for Madsen provided a statement to Variety website, saying that the incident stemmed from "a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both". Michael and DeAnna Madsen have been married for 28 years.
Madsen is renowned for his portrayal of the psychopathic Mr Blonde in Reservoir Dogs and the assassin Budd in Kill Bill: Volume 2. He has also appeared in numerous other films and television series throughout his extensive career.
