Red Wine Stain Removal: 'Miracle' Hack Works Like Magic

Red Wine Stain Removal: 'Miracle' Hack Works Like Magic

Few things are as delightful as enjoying a glass of red wine with a meal or while relaxing at home. But a careless spill can quickly turn enjoyment into a nightmare, leaving stubborn stains seemingly impossible to remove.

Many of us have sadly had to bid farewell to beloved garments due to these persistent marks. However, a "miracle" hack, favoured by cleaning guru Nancy Birtwhistle, promises to rescue your favourite clothes and eliminate red wine stains in a flash.

The technique, which Birtwhistle describes as "breaking all the rules", is most effective on fresh stains. If you've just spilled a glass and your clothes are marked, gather a kettle, a large bowl, a colander, and some clothes pegs.

Position the stained fabric over the colander and place it in the bowl, ensuring it is stretched taut across the top. Secure the garment to the bowl using the pegs.

Contrary to popular belief, using white wine to remove red wine stains is not recommended. Birtwhistle warns that she once ruined a carpet using this method, suggesting it's best to avoid it altogether.

Instead, simply pour boiling water from the kettle over the stained clothing in the bowl. The stain will vanish "like magic", according to Birtwhistle.

This method is also effective for other tough, fresh stains, such as fruit juice, she adds.

The effectiveness of this hack has been confirmed by many viewers, who have shared their positive experiences online. One commenter stated: "I did that on a beetroot stain on a pretty white dress and it worked miracles."

Another added: "I used this method recently on some white cotton trousers (a friend dropped a glass of red at my feet) - gone."

And a third person expressed gratitude: "I saved a new tablecloth doing this. Thanks again Nancy!"

With this simple and effective technique, you can confidently enjoy your favourite red wine without the fear of permanent stains.
