Punk Wants to Team Up with Cena for His Farewell Tour

CM Punk has expressed interest in joining forces with John Cena for a tag team match during Cena's upcoming retirement tour.

During a panel at WWE & Mattel's San Diego Comic-Con, Punk was asked who he would choose as his tag team partner. While jokingly suggesting his dog Larry, Punk then revealed he found the idea of teaming up with Cena during his farewell year "pretty interesting."

"If I had to tag up with somebody to beat some people up? It would probably be Larry. Everybody’s asking me, because Cena has announced his retirement - obviously they want to see us fight each other," Punk explained. "I think there’s something to me and him tagging. I think that could be pretty interesting."

Punk has previously described the dynamic between himself and Cena as akin to Batman (Punk) and Superman (Cena). The pair have a history of intense rivalry in the ring, most notably when Punk defeated Cena for the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank 2011. They also engaged in a memorable match on WWE Raw in February 2013.

Cena has announced that 2025 will mark the end of his in-ring career. His retirement tour is planned to span the entire year, with a total of around 35 to 40 dates.

After recovering from a torn triceps injury sustained in January, Punk is now cleared to return to the ring. He will face off against Drew McIntyre in a grudge match at SummerSlam this Saturday, with Seth Rollins serving as the special guest referee.
