Prince William, the Prince of Wales, is adapting his approach to his role, prioritising his wife Kate Middleton's health and their family life.
Since inheriting the title of Prince of Wales, William has adopted a different approach to his engagement with the Welsh people compared to his father, King Charles. Instead of focusing on grand gestures and tradition, William is opting for a more down-to-earth approach, aiming to directly connect with the Welsh community.
As part of this shift, the Prince and Princess of Wales are seeking a Welsh-speaking Private Secretary to join their team at Kensington Palace. This new position will be crucial in assisting with their official duties and fostering a stronger connection with the Welsh people.
Former royal correspondent Jennie Bond, speaking to *OK! Magazine*, noted that William is "a Prince of Wales with a difference." She highlighted his focus on direct engagement, including staying in bed and breakfasts and renting out properties owned by the family when visiting Wales, rather than maintaining opulent estates.
While acknowledging that Charles made significant efforts to connect with the Welsh, including studying at the University of Wales and learning the Welsh language, Bond noted that William, with his busy schedule, has chosen not to tackle the notoriously challenging Welsh language.
However, the most significant change to William's approach appears to be the reduced frequency of visits to Wales since Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis. Prior to this, visits to Wales were a regular occurrence, highlighting William's desire to be actively involved in his new role.
The shift in William's approach underscores his commitment to supporting his wife during her illness and his responsibilities to their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
