Peaky Blinders: Barry Keoghan Joins Cillian Murphy in Netflix Movie

Oscar-nominated actor Barry Keoghan has joined the cast of Netflix's highly anticipated "Peaky Blinders" film, joining the already confirmed star Cillian Murphy. This latest addition to the project follows the recent announcement that Rebecca Ferguson will also be appearing in the film directed by Tom Harper.

Details surrounding Keoghan's role are being kept under wraps, mirroring the secrecy surrounding Ferguson's character.

The "Peaky Blinders" feature was greenlit by Netflix in June, with Murphy reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby, the ruthless leader of the Birmingham gang. The epic continuation of the multi-award-winning saga is written by creator Steven Knight, who is also producing alongside Caryn Mandabach, Murphy and Guy Heeley. Executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason. The film is being made in association with BBC Film.

While plot specifics remain confidential, Knight previously revealed to Deadline that the movie would be set during World War II. Production is expected to commence later this year.

Keoghan, who received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination and won the BAFTA in the same category for Martin McDonagh's "The Banshees of Inisherin," had a busy 2023 starring in Emerald Fennell's "Saltburn," which garnered him further BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations. He spent the awards season circuit alongside Murphy, promoting both their respective films.

Keoghan has already made a strong start to 2024 with the Apple TV+ limited series "Masters of the Air" and the Andrea Arnold-directed "Bird," which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. He is set to appear in "Bring Them Down," which will premiere at TIFF on September 9, and is also attached to Trey Edward Shults' untitled film alongside The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega. Keoghan is in negotiations to join Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in the Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of Don Winslow's novella "Crime 101."

Keoghan is represented by WME, B-Side Management, Entertainment 360 and Sloane Offer.
