Oranssi Pazuzu Unleash New Album: "Muuntautuja"
Finnish avant-garde metal masters, Oranssi Pazuzu, have announced their latest offering, "Muuntautuja," set to drop on October 11th via Nuclear Blast Records. The band has also shared a new single, "Valotus," a heady concoction that continues their exploration of black metal psychedelia.
"Valotus," the second single from the album, follows the release of the title track a few months ago. This latest offering showcases Oranssi Pazuzu's signature blend of jarring instrumentation and vocals, creating an unsettling, almost uncomfortable ambience. The layers within the dense soundscape unfold with each listen, revealing a brutal dance track buried beneath the noise.
Guitarist Ikon, in a statement accompanying the album release, explained their sonic experimentation: "Our experimentation with samplers and electronics made us step towards the weird concept of making nightmarish Rave music. We tried to find common ground between danceable rhythms and oppressive waves of noise and distortion."
Inspiration for "Muuntautuja" came from a diverse range of artists, spanning from heavy metal giants like Beherit and My Bloody Valentine, to electronic and industrial acts such as Death Grips, Portishead, and the iconic "Downward Spiral" era of Nine Inch Nails.
Fans can catch Oranssi Pazuzu live as part of the "Nordic Descent" European tour this autumn alongside fellow metal luminaries, Solstafir. Tickets are available now.
