Jordan Chiles, the gold-medal winning gymnast, knows a thing or two about beauty routines that stand the test of time, or rather, the test of gravity-defying flips and tumbles. Her skin care and makeup have to withstand the rigours of competition, and in a recent *Vogue
Beauty Secrets tutorial, she revealed all her tips and tricks for staying flawless under pressure.
Chiles' skin care routine is a meticulous eight-step process, starting with a cleanser and toner, followed by three serums, including one specifically for the under-eye area. She then applies moisturiser, sunscreen, and finally, eye patches. Her collection boasts products from cult-favourite brands like Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Summer Fridays, and Bliss, demonstrating her discerning taste and knowledge of effective skincare.
"We as women always have to be on point, ready, doing this, doing that, looking good," Chiles said, acknowledging the importance of beauty in women's lives. "I think itâs very interesting how much women actually enjoy the beauty aspect of things." She admitted that it took time to fully embrace her beauty, but now she loves indulging in her skin care routine and makeup application, enjoying every moment of self-care.
Her makeup routine is a more extensive 26-step process, featuring her 15 favourite products, including foundation, concealer, primers, eyeshadows, lip oils and liners, blush, contour, and eyebrow essentials. While it may seem like a lot, she explains that certain elements need to be specifically tailored for gymnastics, ensuring her look stays flawless throughout her routines.
One of the most important aspects of her routine is the use of the One/Size Secure the Blur Makeup Magnet Primer, which helps lock in her makeup and withstand the inevitable sweat and tears. "Primer is very important for me. We sweat, we cry (happy tears, sad tears, whatever it is)," she explained.
She also pays special attention to her eye area, using eyeshadow primer and strategically applying Fenty Beauty's concealer and setting powder to the inner corners of her eyes, creating a brightening effect that looks stunning under the spotlight.
With her routine perfected, she typically has a few hours to prepare before a competition. Half of that time is reserved for naps, showers, and meals, with the remaining time dedicated to getting glam.
The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris marks Chiles' second time competing in the world's largest sporting event, and she's definitely got her routine down pat. She competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan, where she won a silver medal in the team event. Reflecting on her experience, she told *Vogue
that she feels like she's finally come into her own.
âThe first time I went to the Olympics, I was 19 years old. I was just there having fun, trying to discover myself as a person and an athlete all in one. Now that Iâm 23, I know the layout, Iâve done this once before. I know who I am as a person. So now Iâm giving you the full Jordan Chiles,â she said.
With her beauty routine perfected and her confidence soaring, Jordan Chiles is ready to shine on the world stage once again, showcasing her talent and captivating the world with her unwavering spirit and stunning look.
