Bands break up for various reasons: professional rivalry, financial disputes, love triangles, exhaustion, creative differences, and sometimes, simply a case of "I can't stand you any longer!"
But stuffed toys?
According to Noel Gallagher, in his first official interview promoting the shock Oasis reunion with brother Liam, the famously feuding siblings split the band 15 years ago over a cuddly companion.
Oasis superfan Steve Sheward bumped into Noel at the Stone Island Shop in London last Thursday. While he initially dreamed of sharing a pint with the Gallagher brothers, his encounter was far more memorable.
"Trumped that with my children making memories and just hope I can get tickets next year," Sheward wrote on X, alongside photos with a smiling Noel and a video of his son grilling the songwriter about the real reason for his and Liam's fallout.
After introducing his four children to Noel, proudly proclaiming "this is dad's legendary band!", Sheward's children wasted no time in getting to the heart of the matter.
His daughter asked, "Wait, is he getting back with his brother?" When Noel confirmed the 17 UK shows announced earlier this week, one of his sons had a burning question: "Why did you fall out with your brother?"
Noel, ever the wit, quipped, "'Cause he stole my teddy bear." The kids and their dad shared a hearty laugh at this cheeky response.
Smelling a fabricated tale, the boy exclaimed, "You're lying!" Noel insisted it was true, doubling down with, "I'm not lying. He stole it in 1978." One of the other kids wasn't buying it, mimicking Gallagher's attitude with a "You're a fake. See ya!" as he walked away clutching a Winnie the Pooh teddy.
The children then joined Gallagher outside the shop, inquiring if the black Rolls Royce across the street was his car. Of course, it was, prompting a humorous response from Gallagher asking the youngster if he had his driving licence. As Sheward wrote of Gallagher, "A true gentleman in scholar."
Oasis will embark on their first tour since 2009 next summer as part of their Oasis Live â25 world tour. So far, only the dates in England and Ireland have been announced, with the full band lineup yet to be confirmed. Other dates around the world have been promised but not officially unveiled.
Tickets for the UK shows go on sale to the general public this Saturday.
While the stuffed toy tale remains a light-hearted jab, one thing is certain: the Gallagher brothers are back, and the music world is eager to see what this reunion brings.
