Nolan Sister Shares Emotional Cancer Update: "I'm Clear"

Anne Nolan, member of the iconic Irish singing family, appeared on ITV's "Lorraine" on Tuesday to share an emotional update on her health following her recent battle with breast cancer.

Nolan revealed that she was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. Sadly, the cancer returned in a different breast after two decades, though she clarified it was two separate cancers. She then underwent further chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and another operation.

Fighting back tears, Nolan told host Christine Lampard: "I'm happy to say that I'm clear. I've got another year before I'm actually discharged, but I'm clear of cancer at the moment, thank goodness. I count myself really, really lucky."

Lampard expressed her relief and happiness for Nolan, acknowledging the impact cancer has had on the Nolan family. Nolan agreed, stating: "It has hit us hard, but then there are eight children in our family, and three of us have had cancer. Whereas sometimes you see families with three children, and they've all had cancer." She added: "If you look at it like that, we're kind of lucky in a way as well that only three of us have had it."

Nolan also spoke about the "terribly sad" passing of her sister Bernie, who sadly succumbed to cancer. She then touched on the health of another sister, Linda, who is currently battling the disease.

"Although she's fantastic, she's so upbeat about it all. She has moments, but she still goes out, she does things with the family and gets out there. She doesn't let it get her down too much, she's amazing," Nolan said of Linda.

Linda Nolan was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and sadly announced last year that it had metastasized to her brain, leading to the end of her illustrious 50-year career. However, in a Good Morning Britain interview at the end of 2023, Linda shared that following recent treatment, her tumours had shrunk. At the time, she said, "At the moment, I feel good. I've got a little bit of pain, but I was walking about yesterday; we went to the beautiful garden centre, and I was having a walk around to keep moving."

Anne Nolan's positive news comes as a welcome beacon of hope amidst the family's ongoing battles with cancer. Her resilience and strength, alongside her sister Linda's unwavering spirit, are an inspiration to all those facing similar challenges.
