The Niantic Bay Playhouse is ready to celebrate East Lyme in style this Saturday, with the opening of their new production, "The Wedding Singer." Set in the vibrant backdrop of 1985, this musical adaptation of the beloved film follows the story of Robbie Hart, a wedding singer whose own wedding dreams are shattered when his fiancée leaves him at the altar. Robbie finds himself falling for Julia, a waitress who is engaged to a Wall Street tycoon.
The production, directed by Erin Sousa Stanley, features Nick Rapuno as Robbie (originally portrayed by Adam Sandler) and Kate Eberle as Julia (played by Drew Barrymore in the film). The musical score is composed by Matthew Sklar and Chad Begeulin, with the book written by Tim Herlihy and Begeulin.
