Model Adwoa Aboah Welcomes Baby Girl with Unique Name
British model Adwoa Aboah, 32, and her partner, American skater Daniel Wheatley, have welcomed their first child, a baby girl. The couple announced the happy news on Tuesday, 27 August, sharing the details on Instagram.
"Our stunner of a daughter was born at 11:22pm on the 23rd of August by emergency caesarean," Aboah wrote in a post, adding, "Our hearts have literally exploded into a million pieces."
The couple named their daughter Shy Trinity Afua Wheatley, a unique and meaningful moniker. Aboah shared insights into the origins of her daughter's name on her Instagram Stories. "Afua" means "born on Friday" and is an Akan tradition, linked to fertility and celebrating life, birth, and existence.
The name Trinity, Aboah revealed, is inspired by Carrie-Anne Moss's iconic character in "The Matrix."
Accompanying the announcement, Aboah posted a series of heartwarming photos. The first showed her holding her daughter's tiny foot, followed by a snapshot of her smiling on the operating table, flashing the horns gesture while Wheatley gazes down at her. Another image captures a tender moment between the couple as Wheatley holds her hand during the procedure.
The final photo shows Wheatley holding Aboah's hand as she appears emotional during the birth, capturing the raw and intimate experience.
Aboah first revealed her pregnancy at the 2024 Met Gala on 6 May, cradling her bump as she arrived at the Met's steps. She wore a striking red two-piece set from H&M for the "The Garden of Time" event.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, she expressed her desire for a dramatic pregnancy reveal, stating, "I wanted to do [my] Rihanna reveal moment, whatever that looks like..." She added, "And then Iâll probably go back into hiding."
"I mean, Iâm bringing life into this world. So I think I kind of am the theme in a way, just by being pregnant," she said. "Going back to the pregnancy, itâs like there is an insecurity and I was either just gonna pop out a baby or do something like the Met."
With the arrival of their daughter, Shy Trinity Afua Wheatley, Aboah and Wheatley embark on a new chapter as parents. Congratulations to the happy family!
