'MasterChef' Mayhem: Charlotte Crosby Sparks Backlash for 'Annoying' Behaviour

Reality TV personality Charlotte Crosby, 34, has faced criticism following her lively debut on BBC's Celebrity MasterChef on Tuesday night. Her enthusiastic and boisterous personality, a hallmark of her previous appearances on shows like Geordie Shore, was on full display in the kitchen, leaving some viewers questioning her approach.

Crosby, who was competing alongside Craig Doyle, Ian 'H' Watkins, Edith Bowman and Snoochie Shy, impressed judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with her pan-fried pigeon dish for the first challenge, followed by Spanish paella and chocolate lava cake in the second round.

However, her over-the-top reactions, which included dancing around the kitchen and demanding the judges to hurry up, were not well received by all viewers. One memorable moment saw Crosby, upon hearing Wallace praise her pigeon breast as "perfect," jump up and down, shouting, "Woohoo!"

While Torode praised her cooking abilities, noting her pigeon sauce was "slimy" but that she'd done "a pretty good job," he also acknowledged the "charred" nature of her paella. Nevertheless, both judges expressed enjoyment of Crosby's dishes.

Despite her progression in the competition, Crosby's enthusiastic persona drew criticism on social media, with many viewers expressing their annoyance with her boisterous behaviour and perceived lack of focus on the task at hand. Some users complained about her disruptive nature, suggesting her excessive chatter and loud personality were distracting for other contestants.

One viewer fumed on X, formerly known as Twitter, "If Charlotte carries on at that volume I'll be switching off. Must be very distracting for everyone else. #CelebrityMasterchef." Another slammed her paella, calling it "stodgy and dry" and "burnt."

However, Crosby's fans came out in force, praising her energetic spirit and sense of humour. One X user defended the reality star, writing, "Whewww ppl hating on Charlotte Crosby - she is funny, and disruptive and can kind of cook. And really cares! Show would be boring without her #CelebrityMasterchef."

Crosby, remaining unfazed by the backlash, took to X and Instagram to express her gratitude for the positive feedback she received from fans, sharing screenshots of supportive messages.

Whether Crosby's energetic style will continue to win over viewers remains to be seen, but her initial appearance on Celebrity MasterChef certainly created a buzz, igniting a debate about the balance between entertaining personality and culinary focus in the competitive cooking show.
