Love Island Producer Cuts Jobs Amidst Industry Restructuring

Lifted Entertainment, the production company behind the popular reality series *Love Island*, is facing layoffs. Between 15 and 20 roles at the ITV Studios-owned company are at risk, representing approximately 10% of the company's 160-person workforce.

The consultation process for these potential redundancies has begun, with ITV Studios releasing a statement saying, "We can confirm that we are in formal consultation with colleagues and are supporting them during this time. As you can imagine, it would be inappropriate to share any further details at this stage."

Lifted Entertainment, headed by Richard Cowles, produces a range of popular television programs, including ITV's *Saturday Night Takeaway, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, The Voice*, and *My Mum, Your Dad*, as well as the BBC's *University Challenge*. The company also produces the international version of *Love Island

for Peacock in the US, with Cowles serving as executive producer alongside Mike Spencer.

The decision to cut jobs comes as major British production companies and broadcasters adjust to a challenging economic landscape. Earlier this year, ITV announced plans to reduce its operating costs by £50 million (£63 million) annually, leading to layoffs across various departments. In addition, MultiStory Media, another ITV Studios production label, also made a small number of redundancies several months ago.

These recent developments highlight the impact of the economic downturn on the media industry. As companies seek to streamline operations and manage costs, production companies and broadcasters are facing tough decisions that will shape the future of television production.
