Love Island: Joey and Jessy's Popularity Takes a Hit

challenge delivered some harsh truths to Joey Essex and Jessy Potts, leaving the couple questioning their public image.

Islanders were tasked with guessing where they ranked in various categories according to the viewers, and while Joey and Jessy secured third place for "Hottest Couple", their subsequent results painted a different picture.

They received the most votes for "Most Vain Couple" and "Couple Most Likely to Cheat on Each Other", highlighting a perceived lack of genuine connection. Further, they came second in the "Least Likely to Work on the Outside" category.

The disheartening results were evident on their faces as they realised their public standing wasn't as strong as they initially thought.

Joey, a former star of *The Only Way Is Essex*, attempted to explain his "Biggest Cheat" label, stating, "Maybe my persona and who I am, and I'm going to prove the public wrong."

Social media, however, was buzzing with comments expressing disappointment and concern for Joey's declining popularity.

One user wrote, "Joey went on Love Island hoping his popularity will skyrocket! It's rather going deep downhill! Total cringe and embarrassment!" Another added, "Joey doing Love Island was the WORST decision he could've ever made. Talk about killing his popularity."

The negativity surrounding Joey and Jessy's performance comes after the unexpected dumping of Grace and Reuben, a pair that previously faced significant public criticism over perceived bullying.

Grace has since acknowledged tensions with Joey, claiming he was "upset" about their close friendship with Jessy Potts. This arose after Grace entered the villa as a bombshell, stealing Joey from Samantha Kenny, only to be later replaced by Jessy.

During her exit interview, Grace expressed her sadness at being dumped and discussed her experience in the villa, stating, "I’ve been so lucky to be in the Villa with the most incredible group of girls. At some points there would be the odd bicker but we were like sisters. I love them all but Harriett, Jess S, Matilda and Emma were my closest friends there. Jessy (Potts) was also my right hand woman which was crazy, she was always by my side and I adored her."

Adding to the speculation about Joey's behaviour, Grace said, "I think that’s why Joey had a problem with me as he couldn’t get his head around the fact that I was best friends with his girl."
