Louise Minchin: From BBC Breakfast to Lorraine's Chair

Louise Minchin, known for her time presenting BBC Breakfast, will be stepping into Lorraine Kelly's shoes on Friday, July 19th.

Minchin, who recently described it as an "honour" to present Lorraine, has previously filled in for Kelly on multiple occasions. She is a popular choice to take over the daytime slot, often sharing the presenting duties with ITV co-stars Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard.

Minchin's previous comments to OK! magazine highlighted her admiration for Lorraine, stating, "I'm a massive fan of Lorraine's. She's a legend and I absolutely love her programme. I feel really honoured to be able to step into her shoes when she's not there and I'm very happy to do so again."

However, when not presenting, Minchin enjoys the tranquility of her Cheshire home. The house, boasting rustic furniture and a large garden, offers a stark contrast to the bustling city life she left behind.

Minchin's departure from BBC Breakfast in June 2021 was driven by the demanding early morning schedule. She admitted, "I have absolutely loved being part of the six million-strong BBC Breakfast family but, after nearly two decades presenting the programme, I have decided it is time I stopped setting my alarm for 03.40 in the morning."

A peek into her home life revealed a grand living room with a fireplace, traditional carvings, and French windows overlooking a spacious garden. The Victorian house features high ceilings and a mid-century modern revamp, with an antique side cabinet and deer figures adding to the charm.

Despite her busy schedule, Minchin has been open about her appreciation for her home during the pandemic, stating to Good Housekeeping, "It's something I've not really done before, but it's nice to appreciate nature."

Minchin's transition from BBC Breakfast to Lorraine demonstrates her versatility and continued presence in the media landscape. While she has expressed a fondness for her time at BBC Breakfast, she has also confirmed that she will not be returning to the early morning show, emphasizing the challenges of the early wake-up calls and the pressure of hosting a show with a vast audience.
