Loose Women viewers were left unimpressed with the ITV panel show's "prom night" special, which featured what many considered to be "cheap" lookalike versions of George Clooney and David Beckham.
The episode, themed around Brenda Edwards' missed high school prom due to her religious upbringing, saw the usual panel â Brenda, Frankie Bridge, Coleen Nolan, and Katie Piper â don their best prom attire and celebrate the occasion.
The highlight of the evening, however, was intended to be a grand entrance by "very special guests" who would act as the presenters' "dates." However, instead of securing the real deal, the show opted for lookalikes, much to the chagrin of viewers.
Social media erupted with criticism, with many poking fun at the resemblance (or lack thereof) of the "celebrity" guests. One viewer wrote, "He looks nothing like George Clooney, nor does the other one look like David Beckham!" while another commented, "I don't think that guy would look like George Clooney even if [they] closed their eyes."
The "David Beckham" lookalike also received a fair share of ridicule. One fan quipped, "David Beckham lookalike looks more like Peter Andre. Just needs to dye his hair black!" Another added, "Loose Women's George Clooney lookalike, more like Khan mayor of London!"
Even the initial appearance of the presenters themselves caused a stir. The four panellists seemingly "abandoned" the set for a CGI limo, sipping champagne as Frankie joked, "Come on driver, I'm starting to get a bit car sick!"
"Prom queens in this fabulous limo!" Katie chimed in, as Coleen announced, "No, we're there, we're there! You ready girls? Let's go!"
Throughout the episode, viewers speculated on who the "surprise guests" could be, with many suggesting that the show wouldn't be able to attract any real A-list stars. One viewer tweeted, "Superstar might be a stretch unless they're actually expecting a couple of A-listers."
Another guessed, "Star guest probably Rylan/Coleenâs son/the one(s) whoâs always on every reality show." As someone else said, "Reality show wannabes I bet."
This episode of Loose Women certainly sparked a conversation, with many viewers expressing their disappointment with the "cheap" lookalikes and the unusual CGI limo entrance. It remains to be seen if the show will address the criticism and whether viewers will tune in next time.
