Liza Minnelli Unveils Plans for Intimate Memoir: "Kids, Wait 'til You Hear This!"

Stage and screen icon Liza Minnelli is set to share her captivating life story with the world. Grand Central Publishing has announced, exclusively with PEOPLE, that the Oscar-winning actress will release her memoir in spring 2026.

The book, penned in collaboration with Pulitzer Prize winner Heidi Evans and Los Angeles Times alumnus Josh Getlin, promises an intimate look at Minnelli's extraordinary life. From her early childhood as the daughter of the legendary Judy Garland to her meteoric rise to fame in the iconic musical *Cabaret*, the memoir will offer a candid glimpse into the trials and triumphs of a true entertainment legend.

The memoir will delve into her high-profile marriages, her struggles with substance abuse, and other personal experiences, providing a raw and unfiltered account of her journey.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Minnelli revealed that she has been resisting writing a memoir for years, stating, "Since I was old enough to put pencil to paper, people asked me to write books about my career. 'Absolutely not! ‘Tell it when I’m gone!’ Was my philosophy."

However, a series of events, including a "sabotaged appearance at the Oscars", a "film with twisted half-truths", and "a recent miniseries that just didn’t get it right", prompted Minnelli to finally take control of her narrative.

“Finally, I was mad as hell!" she exclaimed. "Over dinner one night, I decided, it’s my own d--- story… I’m gonna share it with you because of all the love you’ve given me."

Minnelli's longtime friend and Tony winner, Michael Feinstein, is also collaborating on the memoir, adding his expert perspective to highlight Minnelli's "most significant contributions to the American Lexicon". The audio edition will feature never-before-heard autobiographical recordings from the past 15 years.

Minnelli expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of her fans, stating, "Thank you all for loving me so much… being concerned about me. I want you to know I’m still here, still kicking a--, still loving life and still creating." She added with a playful wink, "Kids, wait ‘til you hear this."

The memoir is poised to be a must-read for anyone who has ever been captivated by the talent and resilience of Liza Minnelli. With its intimate revelations and insightful reflections, the book promises to be a fitting tribute to a true icon of stage and screen.
