Little Simz Takes Over Tate Modern Lates: A Night of London Creativity

Tate Modern Lates is set to host a unique evening of music, conversation and art on Thursday 31 August, curated by the acclaimed artist Little Simz.

The evening will see Simz, known for her innovative music and artistic vision, bring her personal touch to the iconic gallery. Visitors will have the opportunity to hear from Simz herself, as she joins renowned broadcaster Clara Amfo for a discussion exploring her artistic inspirations, her connection to visual art, and her creative journey in her beloved hometown of London.

Tate Modern Lates offers a free monthly evening of artistic exploration, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in art, music, film and more, fostering a vibrant community within London's cultural landscape.

Simz's curated programme promises an exciting line-up celebrating London's creative spirit, featuring artists and collectives who inspire her.

Renowned choreographer and movement director Kloé Dean will lead an exclusive dance workshop in the South Tank, encouraging participants to unleash their inner mover. Following the workshop, visitors can groove to DJ sets curated by Simz herself, with a diverse selection of artists: Tash LC, Keyrah, NARX, Donch, Drybabe, Nunguja, ELLADHC and Laolu will provide the soundtrack, filling the gallery spaces, including the iconic Turbine Hall.

The night will also feature Art Chats, offering insightful conversations with leading creatives. Visionary artist and stage designer Es Devlin will share her inspirations, alongside novelist Caleb Azumah Nelson and renowned painter, skateboarder and artist Slawn.

For those eager to express their own artistic flair, multidisciplinary artist and illustrator Fiona Quadri will lead a Zine workshop, while Jadore Nicholas of JK Cartoon Studios will guide visitors in a cartoon colouring session. Writer Caroline Adeyemi will offer a unique exploration of personal reflection through poetry and prose.

The Swatch Social space will be open throughout the evening, providing a hub for connection and creativity. Visitors can meet artist Elena Ooijman and participate in collective breathing and movement sessions.

Simz expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, "I’m incredibly excited to be curating an evening at Tate Modern. It’s going to be really special. Being able to invite people from all different walks of life into the space to connect through art is powerful. I hope people feel inspired, uplifted and moved by the experience."
