Lennon's Glasses Up for Auction

Lennon's Glasses Up for Auction

A pair of round blue-tinted glasses, once owned by John Lennon, are set to go under the hammer at an upcoming auction. The glasses, gifted to a man visiting Abbey Road Studios in 1968, are expected to fetch up to £3,000.

The story behind the glasses is a charming one. The recipient, a young man visiting the studios with his girlfriend, spotted the spectacles lying on the piano. His girlfriend urged him to leave them, but Lennon intervened, saying "it’s OK, he can have them." This spontaneous gesture of generosity has now resulted in a piece of Beatles history being offered to the highest bidder.

Adding to the allure of the auction is a collection of 33 black and white photographs taken at Abbey Road Studios, some of which were snapped on the day of the iconic Beatles album cover photoshoot. The images capture the band members, including Paul McCartney, George Harrison, George Martin and Ringo Starr, at work in the studio. The collection, which comes with copyright, is estimated to sell for between £200 and £300.

The auction will take place on 31 July at Farleigh Golf Club in Surrey. The event promises to be a treasure trove for Beatles fans and collectors alike, offering a chance to own a piece of the Fab Four's legacy.
