LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Minifigures: A Must-Have for Fans and Collectors

LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Minifigures: A Must-Have for Fans and Collectors

The latest LEGO Minifigures series, 71047 Dungeons & Dragons, is a critical success, offering something for every Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast – and for LEGO fans too.

LEGO's partnership with Hasbro has yielded a plethora of successful collaborations, including LEGO Transformers and LEGO DUPLO Peppa Pig, and now the iconic tabletop roleplaying game, Dungeons & Dragons, joins the ranks. Following the release of LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale, this minifigure series offers a more accessible entry point into the LEGO D&D world.

While the LEGO Ideas set is an impressive feat, with its intricate details and impressive scale, it comes with a hefty price tag of £314.99 / $359.99 / €359.99. This makes it a less appealing option for many D&D fans who are new to LEGO.

LEGO Minifigures 71047 Dungeons & Dragons solves this problem by offering an incredibly affordable gateway into the LEGO D&D universe, without compromising on detail. The series features a diverse mix of races, classes, and iconic characters, making it a must-have for both seasoned players and those new to the game.

A closer look at the characters

While we wait for the Brick Search team to identify and catalogue every code for the new series, let’s take a closer look at the characters in 71047 Dungeons & Dragons and what makes each one special:

Dwarf Barbarian

The Dwarf Barbarian is one of the less visually appealing minifigures in the series, combining a common race and class. It features a new axe head element that will be useful for various LEGO builds, but its design leans more towards Dwarfs than Barbarians. The minifigure includes two heads with two expressions each - one for male-presenting characters and another for female-presenting characters. The male face has a beard, but it's smaller than you might expect for a Dwarf. Despite its lack of visual flair, the Dwarf Barbarian offers a solid and reliable minifigure.

Gith Warlock

The Gith Warlock is more exotic, reflecting the extraplanar nature of the race and class. While the skin colour isn't quite accurate to the typical Gith depiction, the choice of standard yellow colouring allows for the use of the new yellow elf ears hairpiece from the LEGO Ideas set. The design on both male and female faces clearly identifies the minifigure as a Gith. The Gith Warlock's torso and legs are detailed with ominous swirls, potions, and magic items, and they wield a unique eye-topped staff. A new knife element also adds to the minifigure's versatility.

Tiefling Sorcerer

The Tiefling Sorcerer is one of the standout minifigures in the series. It features a new horned hair element with no pointed ears, making it suitable for any Tiefling. The minifigure comes in a fiery orange colour, with an orange tail, and features intricate printing. The accessories, a small dragon with printed eyes and a spell effect, are a highlight and make this minifigure highly sought-after.

Dragonborn Paladin

The Dragonborn Paladin, another returning race from the LEGO Ideas set, boasts a shining golden hue. This minifigure features a reused LEGO VIDIYO head and intricate printing. It includes a new armour element, printed armoured legs, and a new iridescent mace head piece. The Dragonborn Paladin offers a wealth of detail and versatility for LEGO Castle collectors and D&D fans alike.

Halfling Druid

The Halfling Druid, a class not represented in the LEGO Ideas set, features a muted design, incorporating bones and leaves but lacking the vibrant colours found in other minifigures. The Halfling aspect is noteworthy, with the shortest minifigure legs possible to capture the Halfling proportions. This minifigure includes a new horned hood element.

Aarakocra Ranger

The Aarakocra Ranger is another unique addition to the series, featuring wings, a beak, and talons. The design is sleek but lacks the detail found in other minifigures. The leg element has a noticeable gap between the hips and the limbs, which is a shame. The Aarakocra Ranger is best suited as a ranger and may not be as versatile as other minifigures in the series.

Mind Flayer

The Mind Flayer is a popular character from the Baldur's Gate 3 video game and features a new head piece that faithfully recreates the monster's appearance. This minifigure comes with a moulded Intellect Devourer, another monster for players to battle. The Mind Flayer is a must-have for collectors looking to build an Illithid army.

Strahd von Zarovich

Strahd von Zarovich, an iconic villain from the Curse of Strahd campaign, features intricate prints that highlight his luxury and sinister nature. He comes with a standard sword, a chalice, and a printed black rat with red eyes. Strahd is a highly sought-after minifigure for fans of the game.

Elf Bard

The Elf Bard features a unique design with colourful clothing, gold accents, and tall boots. It boasts a new elf ear hairpiece and detailed printing. The minifigure includes dual-moulded legs and a printed lute, making it a versatile addition to any LEGO collection.

The Lady of Pain

The Lady of Pain, a powerful figure from the Planescape setting, is a highly detailed minifigure. She features a unique cape, a jagged crown of spikes on her helmet, and intricate printing. This minifigure is sure to be a favourite amongst Dungeons & Dragons enthusiasts.

Szass Tam

Szass Tam, a villainous lich from the Forgotten Realms setting, features a creepy skeletal design, red robes, and a new head piece. He includes a common flame element and a trans-red skull with a standard skeleton minifigure face. This minifigure is sure to appeal to fans of the game.

Tasha the Witch Queen

Tasha the Witch Queen, a powerful character from the Vecna: Eve of Ruin campaign, features a more generic design compared to other minifigures. She includes a reused Hocus Pocus hair and hat piece and detailed printing. While this minifigure may not appeal to those unfamiliar with D&D, fans of the game will appreciate her inclusion.

A Minifigures series like no other

LEGO Minifigures 71047 Dungeons & Dragons stands out for its ability to cater to multiple niches. It provides an accessible entry point into the LEGO D&D universe for fans of the game, as well as offering a plethora of medieval and fantasy themed pieces for LEGO Castle collectors.

Despite the change from blind bags to boxes, the price of £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99 remains a fantastic value for LEGO Minifigures. This series offers a fun and affordable way to bring LEGO into your D&D campaign, especially when using the Brick Search app to find specific characters.

71047 Dungeons & Dragons is a critical success for LEGO Dungeons & Dragons. Don't miss out on this exciting minifigure series when it launches on 1 September 2024. Remember to download the Brick Search app on iOS or Android ahead of time!
