Last Dinner Party Reclaim Their Karaoke Days with "Call Me" Cover

The British indie rock band Last Dinner Party is riding a wave of success. Following their Mercury Prize nomination and a cover by Kelly Clarkson, the band released a vibrant and energetic rendition of Blondie's iconic "Call Me" for their Like A Version session.

In a candid interview, band members Abigail Morris and Georgia Davies revealed their personal connection to the song. They shared that "Call Me" was their go-to karaoke track during their teenage years, leading to many a boisterous house party.

“We would destroy it at house parties and clear the room,” Morris admitted. “This is us trying to reclaim all those years and do it well.”

Davies, acknowledging the iconic status of Debbie Harry's original, emphasized their desire to pay tribute rather than mimic: “What’s good about this version is we didn’t try and do it like her because I don’t think I could’ve. I think it’s nice we’ve been able to reinterpret it and do more of an homage rather than trying to be Debbie Harry because no one can.”

The band's unique interpretation of "Call Me" showcases their dynamic energy and musical prowess. Their performance perfectly captures the spirit of the original while adding their own distinct flavour. The session also featured a performance of "Burn Alive" from their latest album, *Prelude To Ecstasy*.

The Like A Version session and interview underscore Last Dinner Party's versatility and ability to connect with audiences through their energetic performances and honest personalities. Their recent string of accomplishments solidifies their position as a rising force in the indie rock scene.
