Kelly Ripa Crowned Disney Legend, Pays Tribute to 'Smoking Hot' Husband

American television personality Kelly Ripa has been recognised for her significant contributions to the entertainment industry, being named a Disney Legend at the D23 event in Anaheim, California.

The honour, bestowed upon individuals who have made a lasting impact on the Walt Disney Company, was presented to Ripa, 53, by her former "Live" co-host, Ryan Seacrest. The pair, reunited on stage after Seacrest's departure from the show last year, shared a lighthearted moment as Ripa joked about Seacrest's numerous other hosting gigs.

In her acceptance speech, Ripa expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the ceremony, particularly Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company. She quipped that Iger "has not aged a day" in the 35 years they've known each other, sparking laughter from the audience.

Ripa, known for her quick wit and engaging personality, playfully addressed the crowd: "I know what you're thinking. Why her? What has she ever done? She doesn't even go here." She then added with a smile, "But to you, I say, you sound just like my family."

The talk show host, who met her husband, Mark Consuelos, on the set of the soap opera "All My Children," acknowledged the significant role the Walt Disney Company has played in her life, both professionally and personally. She jokingly shared that she and Consuelos "made" their children — Michael, Joaquin, and Lola — "right backstage in the Disney labs."

Ripa reminisced about a childhood trip to Walt Disney World with her family, a moment she credited with shaping her love for the company. Her three-decade-long career, which began with "All My Children" and includes nearly 25 years hosting "Live!", has solidified her position as a recognisable figure in television.

Joining Ripa in receiving the prestigious Disney Legend title were a diverse group of luminaries, including Miley Cyrus, Angela Bassett, Colleen Atwood, Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Steve Ditko, Harrison Ford, Mark Henn, Frank Oz, Joe Rohde and John Williams.

In a video announcing the honorees, Seacrest described the Disney Legend award as the "highest honour the Walt Disney Company can bestow," reserved for those who have "pushed the envelope of creativity, challenged conventional wisdom and broken the restraints of the status quo in search of new possibilities and excellence."

Ripa's Disney Legend recognition stands as a testament to her enduring impact on the entertainment industry and her undeniable connection with audiences worldwide. Her infectious enthusiasm and genuine warmth have made her a beloved figure, and this latest honour is a fitting acknowledgment of her career achievements.
