Kelly Reilly Lands New Role After "Yellowstone" Ends

The "Yellowstone" star is set to lead a new crime thriller, showcasing her talents beyond the Dutton Ranch.

While we eagerly await the final episodes of the hit Western drama "Yellowstone," Kelly Reilly, who plays the fiery Beth Dutton, has already secured her next big project.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Reilly will lead a new Sky Original crime thriller titled "Under Salt Marsh," which is slated to begin filming later this year. The series is created and executive produced by Claire Oakley, who will also direct.

Oakley described the show as "a crime thriller set in a community deeply connected to its environment, and interwoven with the heartache, fears, dreams, and secrets of its people." She further elaborated on Reilly's character: "At the heart of it all is Jackie, a character who embodies the wildness of the place we’re depicting. She’s free-spirited, compassionate, and determined, with a steely resolve that makes her truly of the land. We’re absolutely thrilled to have Kelly Reilly bringing Jackie to life."

"Under Salt Marsh" is set in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen, a community living close to a sea that threatens its very existence. As a monumental storm approaches, Jackie Ellis, a former detective turned teacher, stumbles upon the body of her eight-year-old pupil, Cefin, seemingly drowned. This discovery sends shockwaves through the town, reviving the ghost of an unsolved cold case from three years prior – the disappearance of Jackie’s niece, Nessa, which cost her her career.

The series will be available on Sky and its streaming service Now in the UK, Ireland, and Italy, with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handling international distribution.

"Yellowstone" has captivated audiences with its portrayal of the Dutton family, who own and operate the largest ranch in Montana. The show's success has led to a multitude of spin-offs, expanding the world of the Dutton family and their ranch. However, "Yellowstone" itself will conclude with the second part of Season 5, which is expected to premiere in November 2024. This conclusion will mark the end of Kevin Costner's portrayal of John Dutton III, the patriarch of the family, who announced his departure earlier this year.

Despite the departure of Costner, Reilly's Beth Dutton has remained a fan favourite. Her character, a brilliant businesswoman and her father's fiercely protective daughter, has captivated audiences with her unwavering loyalty and sharp wit.
