Katie Price Faces Judge's Stern Warning After Court No-Show

Katie Price, the former glamour model, has been issued a firm warning by a judge to attend a future court hearing, following her arrest at Heathrow Airport. The 46-year-old was apprehended upon her return to the UK on Thursday evening, having failed to appear at a previous hearing related to her bankruptcies.

Price appeared before the Royal Courts of Justice on Friday, following the issuance of an arrest warrant on 30 July. Deputy Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Daniel Schaffer scheduled a further hearing for 27 August, leaving Price with a stark ultimatum: "You have to attend that date, no ifs or buts, no going abroad, no holidays."

Price had previously claimed she was not avoiding her legal obligations, stating that she was "away working for a documentary on corrective surgeries" during the missed hearing. However, reports emerged that she had travelled to Turkey.

Arriving at the court on foot, Price was accompanied by photographers and donned a black head covering and bandages.

Judge Schaffer ordered Price to provide the court with an "undertaking" to ensure her attendance at the August hearing, where she will face questions about her finances. He issued a strong warning: "If you breach the undertakings in any way, shape or form, you will be brought back into custody. It is quite a serious matter." Price confirmed her understanding of the judge's order, stating she would adjust her schedule accordingly.

Price requested the option to attend the next hearing via Zoom or a side room, citing discomfort with being in court. However, Judge Schaffer denied this request, arguing that the process for remote attendance was straightforward.

She also revealed that she had yet to secure legal representation, stating that she had been quoted a hefty £50,000 upfront fee. Price further explained that she was ineligible for legal aid due to her earnings, leaving her feeling uncertain about how to proceed.

Although the hearing was officially held at the Rolls Building, Price appeared remotely via a video link from an office of High Court enforcement staff at the Royal Courts of Justice. She was accompanied by an "appropriate adult" throughout the proceedings.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of a 46-year-old woman from Surrey at Heathrow Airport on Thursday evening. After being initially remanded in custody, it is understood that Price was granted bail later that night.

Price, who hails from Brighton but now resides in Surrey, was declared bankrupt in November 2019 and again in March 2023. In February, she was ordered to contribute 40% of her monthly earnings from the adult entertainment platform OnlyFans over the next three years, in relation to her first bankruptcy. Her second bankruptcy declaration in March stemmed from an unpaid tax bill exceeding £750,000.

Prior to her arrest, Price had been given multiple warnings by a judge regarding the importance of her court attendance. The 30 July hearing was scheduled for her to answer questions posed by barristers representing the trustee of her bankruptcies.

This latest development marks a significant escalation in the legal challenges faced by Price, who must now ensure her presence at the upcoming court date to address the ongoing financial complications.
