Journey Keyboardist Sues Guitarist Over Alleged Financial Mismanagement

Iconic rock band Journey finds itself embroiled in a legal battle as keyboardist/guitarist Jonathan Cain has filed a lawsuit against founding member Neal Schon. Cain claims Schon has been irresponsible with the band's finances, leading to significant financial strain.

According to legal documents obtained by Bloomberg Law, Cain alleges that Schon maxed out the band's American Express card, which boasts a £800,000 limit. He further claims that Schon overspent on their £1,200 per night hotel allowance, frequently hired private jets, employed a friend as security, and generally created a situation where the band struggles to cover its debts.

The lawsuit, filed on 30th July, states that the dispute between Cain and Schon has become a public affair, negatively impacting the band's reputation within the music industry. While acknowledging the band's onstage performance remains unaffected, the legal proceedings have cast a shadow over Journey's business operations.

This is not the first legal altercation between the bandmates. In 2022, Schon filed a cease-and-desist order against Cain for performing Journey's hit song "Don't Stop Believin'" at a Mar-a-Lago event hosted by former US President Donald Trump.

This latest legal battle highlights the fractured relationship between Cain and Schon, threatening the future of the legendary rock band. The outcome of the lawsuit remains uncertain, but its impact on Journey's future is undeniable.
