Jeff Goldblum's Divine Take on 'KAOS', 'Wicked' Co-stars and Real Power

The inimitable Jeff Goldblum, known for his captivating presence and unique charm, has taken on a new role as the mighty Zeus in Netflix's latest series, "KAOS". The eight-part show, a contemporary reimagining of Greek mythology, sees Goldblum at the helm of a world where ancient gods and goddesses grapple with modern-day dilemmas.

Goldblum's journey to Olympus began with an unexpected invitation to the Met Gala, the prestigious fashion event, where he was surrounded by glittering gowns and musical performances by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. "Anna Wintour was so nice to meet and the whole event was great," he shared, adding that the exhibition of stunning gowns was truly captivating.

However, the actor admitted he wasn't tempted to join his "Wicked" co-stars on stage. "They could have been intimidating because they are gifted beyond belief. As you know, they're spectacular," he said with a twinkle in his eye. "But you see how stupid I am and bushy-tailed for no reason. I went, 'Let's sing this song and let's sing that song.' And we had a grand time." The first instalment of the two-part "Wicked" film, featuring Goldblum alongside Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, is set to hit cinemas in November.

Goldblum's latest venture, "KAOS", sees him embody the iconic Greek god with a blend of swagger and vulnerability. The character is portrayed as a flawed, all-too-human being, struggling with a sense of diminished power in a world where authority is often fleeting.

"He's in a position of authority, but he's all too human," Goldblum explained. "(Zeus) is not the kind of human that has real power, which means you're connected to yourself and you're connected to your own honesty and ability to tell the truth and be authentic, and make beautiful things and contribute positively to others. That's real power. Sometimes, not the same as holding a position of authority, as we know from our current world."

The series, which was originally intended to feature Hugh Grant as Zeus, has been given a distinct Goldblum touch. His character, clad in tracksuits seemingly straight from his own wardrobe, navigates the complexities of modern-day relationships and struggles with the limitations of his own power. In one scene, Zeus is distraught over the loss of his gold watch, resorting to firing his assistants in a fit of rage. But elsewhere, he grapples with the realization that his power is not as absolute as he once believed, setting in motion a cascade of events.

"KAOS" promises to be an engaging exploration of ancient mythology with a contemporary twist. With Jeff Goldblum's unique charm and inimitable presence, the series is sure to captivate viewers with its blend of humour, drama, and thought-provoking themes.
