Jackal on the Hunt: Eddie Redmayne's New Peacock Series Premieres

The first trailer for Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne's action-packed Peacock series "The Day of the Jackal" debuted during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The "Theory of Everything" star takes on the role of "an unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal," according to the show's description. This mysterious figure "makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake."

Lashana Lynch, known for her roles in "Bob Marley: One Love" and "Captain Marvel," portrays Bianca, the determined intelligence officer who is hot on the Jackal's trail. The trailer showcases her unwavering pursuit, even wielding a weapon at one point.

"I know I can find him," she declares with unwavering confidence.

Redmayne's character, the Jackal, is shown enjoying a seemingly idyllic life with his love, Nuria. Played by Spanish actress Úrsula Corberó, who starred in Netflix's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," Nuria appears unaware of her partner's sinister profession. Her shock upon discovering a mold of his face in a scene from the trailer hints at a potential revelation to come.

Meanwhile, Lynch's character emphasizes the Jackal's elusive nature: "Our target never looks the same way twice."

As the trailer unfolds, viewers are treated to glimpses of Redmayne's character carrying out his deadly work. He is seen spying through binoculars, scaling buildings, loading a gun, and pursuing his prey, all while ominous music adds to the suspense.

"The Day of the Jackal" boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara.

The series is set to premiere on Peacock on November 7th.
