Imperium's Split: Ludwig Kaiser Explains Why He Had to Break Away
WWE star Ludwig Kaiser has shed light on the recent split from his long-time tag team partners in Imperium, revealing that the decision was "desperately needed" for his career progression.
While Imperium enjoyed success as a united faction for years, consisting of Gunther, Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, the team began to experience tension after a string of losses, particularly for Kaiser and Vinci, which angered the group's leader, Gunther.
The breaking point arrived on the 22nd of April episode of Raw, when Kaiser, frustrated by his limited opportunities, attacked Vinci and made a definitive move towards a solo career, allowing Gunther to continue his ascent to the top of the card.
Speaking to SPOX, Kaiser elaborated on the reasoning behind his decision to leave Imperium, highlighting his desire to break free and showcase his individual potential:
"It was desperately needed. Gunther had more of the team's focus than I did. This held me back because people want to see more of me in the years to come. I have to focus on myself, that's just how it is in wrestling. In a team, there's always compromise. You can never do exactly what you want. I was always convinced that I had everything it took to become a big name in WWE. Also, considering my father's legacy, it was important for me to forge my own path. It became clear immediately. Within a few weeks, my stock rose dramatically."
Since the attack, Kaiser has been absent from WWE programming, but he confirmed in the interview, which took place before the most recent Raw episode, that he would be recovered from a broken rib in time for the Bash in Berlin event on the 31st of August.
Kaiser returned to action on the 5th of August Raw, where he introduced the new World Champion before facing Sheamus in his first match back since suffering the injury.
The split from Imperium appears to have been a catalyst for Kaiser's individual success, as he seeks to carve out a new path in WWE, building upon his father's legacy and establishing himself as a formidable force in the world of professional wrestling.
