Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey Are Open to Revisiting the 2003 Rom-Com

Fans of the beloved rom-com "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" may be in for a treat. During an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live," actress Kate Hudson revealed that she and her former co-star, Matthew McConaughey, are open to reprising their roles in a sequel.

When asked about the possibility by host Andy Cohen, Hudson confirmed, “I think they’re always thinking about that.” She clarified that a sequel would depend on a compelling script and the mutual enthusiasm of both actors.

"All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script," said Hudson, “I think we're both totally open, it has just never happened.”

The 2003 film, known for Hudson's iconic yellow dress, was a hit, captivating audiences with its charming story of magazine writer Andie Anderson (Hudson) and advertising executive Benjamin Barry (McConaughey). The film follows Andie's attempt to write an article about how to make a man leave you in 10 days, while Benjamin simultaneously bets that he can make a woman fall in love with him within the same time frame.

McConaughey, in a 2020 interview with *E!*'s *Daily Pop*, expressed his openness to a sequel, stating, “I mean, *How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

is teed up, you know, teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel. And that was a really good one. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one.” He added, "People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit.”

In a 2023 interview with *Vanity Fair*, Hudson hinted at the possibility of a sequel, acknowledging that fans frequently inquire about it. She stated, "People always ask us [about a sequel] but there’s nothing in the works." She also shared her admiration for working with McConaughey and her hope that they would collaborate again in the future.

While a sequel is not yet confirmed, both actors' enthusiasm and the film's enduring popularity suggest a potential for a rekindled love story on the big screen. Fans of "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" can only hope that a script worthy of the original film materializes, bringing Andie and Ben back to the silver screen.
