Holly Willoughby Returns to ITV with 'You Bet!' Revival
Holly Willoughby is set to return to ITV screens with a revival of the popular gameshow "You Bet!", a show that hasn't graced British television for almost three decades.
Willoughby will be joined by co-host Stephen Mulhern for the reboot, which sees a panel of celebrities and the studio audience tasked with predicting whether challengers can complete extraordinary feats. If the audience correctly guesses the outcome, points are awarded to the celebrity panel based on the percentage of viewers who voted in agreement. The challenger with the most audience votes wins a £10,000 prize, while the celebrity with the highest score receives £10,000 for their chosen charity.
"You Bet!" was a staple of ITV programming between 1988 and 1997, hosted by Bruce Forsyth, followed by Matthew Kelly and Darren Day. The show was known for its high-stakes challenges and its iconic closing sequence, where Forsyth would rap the show's title while the audience chanted along. Originally based on the German format "Wetten Dass?", the revived version is being produced by ITV Studios-backed Rollercoaster Television. Two 75-minute specials are scheduled to air later this year.
Willoughby's return to a major ITV show comes after a turbulent period, following the departure of her former "Good Morning Britain" co-host Phillip Schofield and a high-profile incident involving a man who plotted to kidnap her. Despite these challenges, Willoughby has maintained a strong presence on British television, presenting "Dancing on Ice" and recently filming a new reality series for Netflix alongside Bear Grylls.
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV, commented on the show's return, saying: "You Bet! is part of a stellar entertainment line-up for ITV and ITVX this Autumn, and we are thrilled to have Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern at the helm."
The news of "You Bet!"'s revival comes amidst the BBC's announcement of a celebrity special for "Gladiators", following the success of the rebooted version earlier this year, which attracted millions of viewers each week.
"You Bet!" is a Rollercoaster Television production, commissioned by Rawcliffe and Louise Major, Entertainment Commissioning Editor for ITV. Ben Aston and Jonny Lus serve as Executive Producers for Rollercoaster Television.
