Actor and comedian Hank Azaria will bring his Bruce Springsteen tribute show, featuring the EZ Street Band, to the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park.
The show, which will mark Azaria's debut performance at the iconic venue, is scheduled for Friday, 15 November. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10am on Wednesday, 14 August, but fans can access a pre-sale starting at the same time with the code "PONY." While ticket prices have not yet been announced, the event is sure to attract a large crowd of Springsteen enthusiasts.
Azaria, known for his iconic voice work on "The Simpsons" as Moe the Bartender, Chief Wiggum, Comic Book Guy, and many others, has also enjoyed a successful film and television career. He has starred in films such as "The Birdcage," "Along Came Polly," and "Night at the Museum," and appeared on shows like "Friends" and "Ray Donovan."
The actor's passion for Springsteen's music led him to create this tribute show. He explained to Rolling Stone that he views the performance as "a theatrical performance" where he stays "in character as Bruce" even when sharing personal anecdotes. He emphasises that he is not a Springsteen impersonator, but rather a performer paying homage to the iconic musician's style and spirit.
Azaria's Springsteen tribute show is not limited to Asbury Park. He will also perform at the Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia on Thursday, 31 October, and at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn on Friday, 8 November.
The event will also benefit The Four Through Nine Foundation, a social justice, education, and recovery organisation co-founded by Azaria. He stated that performing Springsteen's music for a dedicated audience while raising funds for those in need is a "better way to spend [his] time and use [his] passion for voices."
The Stone Pony, known as a breeding ground for music legends like Springsteen and Southside Johnny, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Fans seeking further information about the show or tickets can visit the venue's website, stoneponyonline.com.
