Halle Berry's Hilarious Prank on Mike Colter on "The Union" Set

Mike Colter, known for his roles in "Luke Cage" and "Evil," recently revealed a hilarious prank pulled on him by his "The Union" co-star, Halle Berry. During filming in London, Berry convinced the entire cast and crew to play a prank on Colter, leading to a memorable and slightly stressful experience for the actor.

Colter arrived on set a few minutes late and was met with a stunned silence from everyone present. Berry, playing the role of Roxy, was visibly upset and began berating him for his tardiness. The usually jovial set atmosphere had been transformed into one of intense tension, leaving Colter feeling bewildered.

"She just starts staring at me and I'm like, 'What is going on?' I was completely stunned," shared Colter. He looked to the first assistant director, hoping for some clue to the situation, but even he was playing the role of an irate crew member to perfection.

Colter, still unsure of what was happening, started apologising for holding up production. "I mean, I literally was sitting in the makeup chair, letting the makeup person do their job!" he exclaimed, baffled by the situation.

After several minutes of tense, almost unbearable silence, Berry finally broke character, revealing the prank and sending everyone into fits of laughter. "It was a good time because I really was not expecting that," said Colter, admitting that Berry had successfully fooled him.

"The Union," premiering on Netflix on 16 August, stars Berry as Roxy, a woman who enlists her former high school sweetheart, a struggling construction worker played by Mark Wahlberg, into a dangerous espionage mission. Colter plays Nick Faraday, Roxy's mysterious colleague with secrets of his own.

The action-comedy was filmed in various European locations, including London, Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia. Colter, who joined the cast later in production, was immediately welcomed by Berry and the rest of the cast, particularly Wahlberg, who he described as "very welcoming."

"She greeted me, was really welcoming and connected with me right away. It put me at ease," said Colter about Berry. He also praised Wahlberg's natural comedic talent, highlighting his previous roles in films like "Ted" and "Boogie Nights."

Colter, who is no stranger to leading roles, relishes the opportunity to work with experienced actors like Berry and Wahlberg, finding the challenge stimulating. He believes that their professionalism and welcoming nature create a comfortable environment for the entire cast to flourish.

The actor also expressed his enjoyment working with director Julian Farino, highlighting his approachable and charismatic leadership, which contributed to the light-hearted atmosphere on set.

"We're so lucky [as actors], we're really just having fun because we are playing a child's game at a very high level," shared Colter. He emphasised the fun and exciting nature of filming "The Union," particularly due to the beautiful locations and the film's 007-inspired feel.

Colter found the opportunity to portray a charismatic and charming character highly appealing. He was drawn to the film's global scope and its resemblance to the classic James Bond films he enjoyed as a child.

"It looks like the kind of films I grew up watching when I was a kid," said Colter, referencing the iconic Bond films featuring Roger Moore, Sean Connery, and Pierce Brosnan. "Watching those [James] Bond flicks with Roger Moore or Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan, where you’re seeing them in a different location. They’re driving these expensive cars, there’s a car chase, they’re shooting [people]... It feels like it spans a little more global, a little more European."

With "The Union" set to premiere on Netflix, audiences can expect an entertaining blend of action, comedy, and global intrigue, all brought to life by a talented cast and a fun-loving director.
