From Hit Singer to Country Chef: Kosheen's Sian Evans Finds New Harmony in Welsh Dream Home

Sian Evans, the voice behind the hit single "Hide U" and the electric pop rock band Kosheen, has traded the bright lights of the music industry for a quieter life in a stunning Georgian home in Wales. The singer, who found fame in the early 2000s, now runs a successful B&B, "Sea View," in the picturesque town of Laugharne, Carmarthenshire.

The COVID-19 pandemic led Evans to re-evaluate her life and career. Feeling the need for a more stable income, she decided to return to her roots in Wales and pursue a new path. The stunning Sea View, once home to the legendary poet Dylan Thomas and his wife Caitlin, presented the perfect opportunity for a fresh start.

"It was a hell of a move for me," Evans told WalesOnline, "because I didn't know a soul here." The grand Georgian home was a far cry from what she had initially envisioned, but the opportunity to create a new life and business in a tranquil setting was too good to resist.

Three years later, Evans has established a thriving B&B, seamlessly transitioning from singer to chef and back again. She thrives in her new role, finding parallels between the energy of live performance and hospitality: "Hospitality and performance are the same energy. When people come to my shows, I want them to leave feeling replenished and energized and having had a good time. It's not about the performer, it's about the audience and what they take away from it, and it's the same with the BandB."

Sea View, filled with mementos from Evans' travels and family history, provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests. A grand piano, once her grandfather's, resonates with music throughout the house, even in the silence. For Evans, Sea View is much more than just a home; it's a sanctuary where past energy lingers, reminding her of its rich history and vibrant spirit.

The singer's music career has also flourished, with Kosheen back in high demand and touring Europe. She juggles the demands of both her music and hospitality ventures with ease, embracing the unexpected schedule with a playful spirit.

"The gigs have come back, and they've come back with a vengeance, thick and fast," she says. "So now, some days I don't know if I've got a frying pan or a microphone in my hand. I'm dropping my bags in the hallway and starting a fry-up!"

Her dedication to her new community is evident in the annual Christmas party she throws for the residents of Laugharne. "It's absolutely teeming with people here," she says, "they go through the buffet like locusts and it's just so lovely to have that energy in the house again, for it to be ringing again, full of singing again, and I think this house loves that."

Reflecting on her bold decision to leave the city behind, Evans is filled with gratitude for the fulfilling life she has built in Laugharne. "Take a deep breath and just do it," she advises. "If it doesn't work, you can do something else. My whole life has completely changed for the better. Every morning I wake up and breathe fresh air, and I wouldn't change a thing."

For Sian Evans, Sea View has become more than a dream home; it's a testament to her adaptability, resilience, and her ability to find harmony in unexpected places. It's a story that reminds us that sometimes, the greatest joys are found not in chasing success, but in embracing a new rhythm and finding fulfillment in a quieter, more meaningful life.
