Fantastic Four: First Steps Theme Unveiled at D23

Michael Giacchino, the long-standing composer for Marvel Studios, has revealed the main theme for the upcoming "Fantastic Four: First Steps" reboot at D23. The theme, which was played exclusively for fans attending the event, deviates from the music heard at last month's San Diego Comic-Con drone show.

Giacchino, known for his work on numerous MCU films, directed the "Werewolf By Night" special and is rumoured to be attached to the "Midnight Sons" movie, although no confirmation was given at Comic-Con.

The SDCC panel unveiled the film's new title, "First Steps," and showcased the first teaser trailer, which has since been leaked online. The title's unusual choice has sparked speculation that it could allude to the introduction of Reed and Sue Richards' children, Franklin and Valeria.

The theme's release follows the announcement of the film's star-studded cast. Pedro Pascal, known for his roles in "Game of Thrones" and "The Last of Us," will portray Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby, fresh from her role in "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning," will play Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman. Joseph Quinn, familiar to audiences from "Stranger Things" and "A Quiet Place Day One," will "flame on" as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach ("The Punisher," "The Bear") will take on the role of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

Julia Garner joins the cast as the Shala-Bal version of the Silver Surfer, with Galactus confirmed as the main antagonist. Ralph Ineson, known for his work in "The Witch" and "Game of Thrones," will portray the cosmic entity. Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Kevin Feige recently confirmed that the film will take place in an alternate universe. However, with the Fantastic Four set to appear in "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars," it's possible they may find their way into the main MCU timeline by the end of this film.

Filming is currently underway, and set photos have begun to surface online. Matt Shakman directs "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," which is scheduled to hit cinemas on 25 July 2025.
