Ed Sheeran tipped for Glastonbury 2025, not Oasis despite reunion

Despite their highly anticipated reunion tour, bookmakers are predicting that Ed Sheeran, not Oasis, will headline Glastonbury in 2025. The betting odds released by Coral reveal that Sheeran is the current favourite, with odds of 1-2, suggesting a high probability of him taking the stage.

The bookmaker's list of potential headliners, based on odds, places other notable artists such as Adele (4-5) and Madonna (5-4) as strong contenders. Olivia Rodrigo (6-4) also features prominently, suggesting a possible future for the pop star at Glastonbury.

Further down the list, Foo Fighters (2-1) and Harry Styles (9-4) are also in the running. While Eminem (5-2) has been added to the mix, Oasis, despite their reunion tour, are placed further down the list at 7-2.

Coral's spokesperson, John Hill, explained: "Some might say Oasis have ruled themselves out of Glastonbury in 2025, and as a result, we now make Ed Sheeran the odds-on favourite to be one of the headline acts at Worthy Farm next year."

He added: "Adele and Madonna are also at the top end of the betting to headline in 2025, in what could be a strong line-up."

The news of Oasis' reunion tour was met with widespread excitement, with the band announcing a series of UK concerts for next summer, expected to be one of the most in-demand tours in British concert history.

A music industry insider confirmed the tour’s impact, stating: "Oasis’s comeback tour is going to be absolutely massive, and next summer they’re going to be taking over the country."

They added: "They will announce four shows at Wembley Stadium, along with a load more dates across the whole of the UK—including in Manchester, which will be incredibly poignant for them. Live Nation and SJM have joined up on the project because it’s so enormous. In short, today there are going to be a ton of tickets available – Noel and Liam want everyone to have the chance to see them."

The official announcement is anticipated soon, potentially coinciding with the 15th anniversary of Noel’s departure from the band. Venues like Manchester’s Heaton Park and London’s Wembley Stadium are reportedly being considered for the concerts.

The Sun has confirmed that the reunion will be highly lucrative, with the shows projected to generate £400 million.

While Oasis's reunion tour is expected to be a phenomenal success, it appears the bookmakers believe Ed Sheeran is a frontrunner to headline Glastonbury in 2025, a decision that might surprise some fans. The festival’s history has seen both its fair share of successes and controversies, from the controversial introduction of a security fence in 2002 to Jay-Z’s groundbreaking headline set in 2008. It remains to be seen if the 2025 event will be another chapter in the Glastonbury legacy.
