EastEnders Fans Spot Familiar Screams in Peggy's Nightclub Tragedy

EastEnders viewers have raised eyebrows over a potential continuity error following the devastating crush at Peggy's nightclub, which left a young teenager fighting for their life. The drama unfolded this week when Albert Square was thrown into disarray as the club became dangerously overcrowded, leading to a tragic incident.

The chaos erupted after Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) interfered with the booking system, releasing extra tickets for Penny Branning's (Kitty Castledine) bank holiday event. As panic set in, Penny and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) attempted to evacuate the crowd, but the fire exit was blocked. Terrified partygoers screamed and glass shattered as they realised they were trapped. Zack instructed Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) to escape through the office, using an alternative emergency exit.

However, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) were locked inside, oblivious to the unfolding disaster outside. Lauren used a fire extinguisher to smash down the door, only to be trampled by the fleeing crowd and knocked unconscious. As people scrambled to return upstairs, Penny was knocked from her wheelchair. At the scene, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) watched in horror as his daughter was rushed away by paramedics, who delivered devastating news.

The heart-wrenching scenes, however, weren't the only thing to catch the audience's attention. Dedicated EastEnders fans were quick to notice a striking similarity between the background screams and audio from a previous Albert Square tragedy, 14 years ago.

Taking to social media, a keen-eyed fan shared side-by-side clips of both incidents, observing: "They did it again. Using the screams from the Vic fire in 2010. You can hear Janine shouting for Ryan #EastEnders".

Another fan commented: "They could've at least made new screaming noises," while a third user added: "They could have made new screaming noises instead of Janine screaming for Ryan."

One viewer remarked: "Omg you can hear Ricky", while others chimed in with amusement and recognition: "I thought I heard the same sound effects."

This observation sparked a flurry of online discussion, with viewers expressing their surprise and amusement at the potential reuse of sound effects. It remains to be seen whether the production team will address this perceived error, but it certainly adds another layer to the already dramatic events unfolding in Albert Square.

EastEnders airs Monday - Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
