Doctor Who Spin-Off: Sea & Land Clash in New Series Cast Reveal
A first glimpse at the cast of "The War Between The Land And The Sea," the highly anticipated Doctor Who spin-off, has been unveiled. Photos from a recent table read reveal the ensemble cast, featuring a blend of familiar faces and exciting newcomers.
Ruth Madeley and Colin McFarlane join the previously announced Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jemma Redgrave, and Alexander Devrient in this thrilling new series, set to begin production. The joint venture between the BBC and Disney+ is the brainchild of Doctor Who showrunner and executive producer Russell T Davies, who penned the series alongside executive producer Pete McTighe (known for his work on "A Discovery of Witches," "The Pact," and "Doctor Who").
The narrative plunges viewers into a world on the brink of chaos. An ancient and formidable species, emerging from the depths of the ocean, unexpectedly reveals itself to humanity, triggering an international crisis. As the land and the sea prepare for a devastating war, the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Enter UNIT, the organisation tasked with protecting humanity from extraterrestrial threats, ready to take on the unprecedented challenge.
Behind the scenes, the production team boasts a wealth of experience. Alongside Davies and McTighe, executive producers for Bad Wolf include Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter. The series is supported by the Welsh Government through Creative Wales.
The five-part series will be brought to life by Dylan Holmes Williams, director of two episodes from Doctor Who's first season â "73 Yards" and "Dot and Bubble."
"The War Between The Land And The Sea" is a collaboration between Bad Wolf and BBC Studios, produced for BBC and Disney Branded Television. The series will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and exclusively on Disney+ in regions where the streaming service is available.
