Dancing Star Ribeiro Shows Off 20lb Weight Loss Ahead of Busy Season

Alfonso Ribeiro, the beloved host of "Dancing With the Stars" and "America's Funniest Home Videos," is set to return to our screens with a brand new look. The 52-year-old entertainer has revealed that he has shed 20 pounds, a transformation he believes will be evident on television.

Speaking about the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars," which he co-presents alongside Julianne Hough, Ribeiro expressed his enthusiasm for the season ahead. "I know it's going to be a tight season, and we're going to have some fun," he said. "It's going to be great, and the dancing will be better than ever."

Ribeiro, known for his energetic personality, hinted that his weight loss will enhance his on-screen presence. "I've lost 20 pounds, so now I'm like, 'Oh, I think I might look a little better when they ask me to do some of the little dances in the opening numbers,'" he shared. "So you know, I am ready to rock."

While Ribeiro hasn't divulged specific details about his lifestyle changes, he has previously spoken about his wife Angela Unkrich's passion for healthy eating. He revealed on the "Tamron Hall Show" in October 2022 that his family adopted a strict dietary regime eight years ago following a health issue with one of their children.

"He had a health issue, and we learned how to feed him," Ribeiro explained. "We live a completely non-toxic life where we don't eat any sugar, gluten-free, corn-free, dairy-free, oats-free, anything that makes you swollen, we typically stay away from."

Ribeiro faces a hectic schedule with the return of both "Dancing With the Stars" on September 17th and the milestone 35th season of "America's Funniest Home Videos" premiering on September 29th. "It is a lot of work to do two shows at once," he admitted, "But you know, they are two shows that I absolutely adore and love, and couldn't be more proud to be a part of."

He added, "Obviously, with *AFV

coming back, this is their 35th season [and] my 10th season as the host. This is going to be special, and I am excited to get back to the laughter and the fun."

Looking ahead to the new "Dancing With the Stars" season, Ribeiro teased that "they are putting together all the names and things are getting close," but he remains tight-lipped about the line-up. "I am excited to see who we've got this year," he said. "I'm sure, obviously, with an Olympic year, I'm hoping we have a few Olympians, and it should be a fantastic season."

Beyond his television commitments, Ribeiro recently enjoyed an intimate family cruise down the Rhine River with Adventures by Disney, accompanied by his wife, three youngest children, parents, and in-laws. He initially expressed reservations about the voyage but was pleasantly surprised by the experience. "I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did," he shared. "It was kind of a shock. But I really, really enjoyed it. It was really a fun time. The kids really loved it [and] my wife loved it."
