Could Taylor Swift Steal a Moment for the Paris Olympics?

With the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics just around the corner, many are wondering if Taylor Swift might make a surprise appearance amidst her busy Eras Tour schedule. While the singer hasn't publicly hinted at any plans to attend the Games, her touring itinerary leaves room for potential Olympic visits.

The Olympics run from 26 July to 11 August, overlapping with Swift's European tour leg, which concludes on 20 August. Notably, she has a few days off during the Games, specifically from 29 to 31 July and from 4 to 7 August. Additionally, she's free on 11 August, the day of the closing ceremony, following a performance in Vienna the night before.

Swift's schedule allows for potential attendance at both the opening and closing ceremonies. She hasn't been spotted in public since her Hamburg show on 24 July, leading to speculation that she might be preparing for a possible Olympic appearance. However, given her upcoming Munich show on 26 July, it's equally possible she's simply enjoying a well-deserved break before the next leg of her tour.

Beyond the ceremonies, there's an intriguing opportunity for Swift to support a fellow athlete: Simone Biles, the celebrated American gymnast, performed a floor routine to Swift's music at the Olympic trials and may reprise it in Paris. The women's individual floor exercise final is scheduled for 5 August, a day Swift has off, potentially allowing her to travel from Warsaw, where she wraps up shows on 3 August, to Paris for the event.

The women's team final on 30 July is another potential date for Swift's attendance, although her first Warsaw show on 1 August makes attending the women's all-around final on that day less likely.

Swift has already expressed her admiration for Biles, acknowledging her viral Olympic trials performance set to an instrumental version of "…Ready For It?". “Watched this so many times and still unready,” Swift tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “She’s ready for it tho 👏🥇🇺🇸❤️”

Biles has also publicly confirmed her appreciation for Swift's music, stating that her agent suggested including it in her routine: "Everybody kind of wanted something different—choreographer, as well as music. … Actually, my agent suggested Taylor Swift [and] then I found this Beyoncé song that I really liked and we kind of collabed it together. I do love Taylor Swift and I do love Beyoncé. … Those are my girls!"

While Swift's Olympic attendance remains unconfirmed, the timing and her connection with Biles make it a tantalising possibility. Whether she decides to cheer from the stands or even grace the stage at the opening or closing ceremony, her potential presence adds a unique spark to the already exciting 2024 Paris Games.
