Coronation Street: Fiz's Fears As Alina Returns
Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has revealed Fiz Dobbs' anxieties following Alina Pop's return to Weatherfield, with the character questioning whether she is "enough" for Tyrone.
Viewers will recall Alina's dramatic return last month, bringing Tyrone's young son Dorin with her to give evidence in court against the leader of a human trafficking ring. This arrival has reignited a painful past for Fiz, as her relationship with Tyrone was previously rocked by their affair. While Alina eventually departed the soap, her reappearance has brought back the ghosts of their shared history.
McAlpine explained that Fiz's relationship with Tyrone had been back on track, with them finally settling into a comfortable family life. However, Alina's arrival has disrupted this newfound stability, triggering a sense of insecurity within Fiz.
"It's brought back all those emotions she thought they'd buried," said McAlpine. "She was loving having a normal family life, and now this is thrown into the mix. No one wants to have a constant reminder of their partner's infidelity."
The actress further highlighted Fiz's growing anxieties about losing Tyrone to Alina. "She questions whether sheâs enough for Tyrone and whether their family is enough for him," McAlpine said. "She wonders if he'll want something else now he has a son."
Upcoming episodes will see Tyrone confess to Fiz that he has been lying about spending money on legal advice, revealing instead that he wants Alina and Dorin to move to Weatherfield. This revelation is set to cause further tension in the household, with Fiz grappling with feelings of inadequacy and betrayal.
McAlpine acknowledged the difficulties Fiz is facing: "It is bringing back all the feelings of inadequacy and betrayal that she had when the affair happened. When Alina wasn't in the picture, she had managed to move on and believe Tyrone would be loyal, but you can't blame her for worrying now there is a child potentially bringing Alina and Tyrone closer."
