Comedian John Bishop Moves Gig for England's Euro 2024 Final

Comedian John Bishop put his fans' football fever ahead of his stand-up show, moving the time of his Wolverhampton gig to allow everyone to catch the Euro 2024 final.

After England's thrilling semi-final victory over the Netherlands, secured by Ollie Watkins' 90th-minute goal, Bishop pledged to adjust his Sunday performance. "There's no chance I'm going to be doing it at 8.00pm," he said in a video message, "because I'm going to be busy watching these boys."

True to his word, Bishop donned an England football shirt during his Sunday afternoon show and led the crowd in a spirited rendition of the iconic "Three Lions" song by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner, and the Lightning Seeds. "I think this proves it was a good idea to move the time of the gig in Wolverhampton today," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a video of the performance.

Bishop's gesture was met with gratitude from fans who were able to enjoy both the stand-up show and the final.

The football fever extended beyond Bishop's gig, with Wireless Festival also adjusting its schedule to cater to fans. The music festival, originally slated to end at 9:30pm, finished early at 7pm, allowing attendees ample time to get home for the Euro 2024 final.

Doja Cat, the headline act for Sunday's festival, embraced the football spirit, performing in a Union Jack corset and even kicking a football to the crowd while chanting "Go England!"

These events showcase the collective passion for football in England and the willingness of individuals and organizations to adjust their plans to ensure everyone could enjoy the Euro 2024 final.
