Coldplay's Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson Call Time on Romance

The frontman of Coldplay, Chris Martin, and his fiancée, actress Dakota Johnson, have reportedly called off their engagement and ended their relationship after seven years. Sources close to the couple suggest they have been drifting apart and have ultimately decided to go their separate ways.

Johnson, 34, was spotted last weekend without her emerald engagement ring as she walked her dog in Malibu, California. The actress, known for her role in the *Fifty Shades of Grey

trilogy, has been a familiar face at Coldplay concerts over the years, but she is currently thousands of miles away from Martin, 47, who is in Munich, Germany, performing on the European leg of the band's Music of the Spheres world tour.

While the couple had previously experienced a brief separation in 2019, they reconciled shortly afterwards. However, rumours of a split surfaced again in May this year, sparked by a fan's social media post claiming that Martin, originally from Devon, had told her he was "single" while giving her a lift.

Despite these rumours, a source told PEOPLE magazine in June that the couple were "going strong" and had overcome their difficulties. However, it appears that their relationship has ultimately reached its end, despite their efforts to make it work.

A source close to the pair explained: "Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They'll always have love for each other but they've both come to the conclusion that the relationship cannot be sustained long-term."

They continued, "They're both busy people, Chris has been in Europe with Coldplay and they both have personal priorities, passions and work commitments which don't naturally intertwine with each other. They wanted it to work but it just hasn't, and they've now accepted it is best to move on."

The couple were last seen together publicly in February during a holiday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Martin's previous marriage to actress Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom he shares two children, Apple and Moses, ended in 2016. Paltrow and Martin famously described their separation as a "conscious uncoupling," highlighting their commitment to co-parenting and maintaining a positive relationship despite their divorce.

Martin's relationship with Johnson began in 2017, and their relationship has been the subject of much public interest, with the two navigating the challenges of their high-profile lives. The couple's decision to split marks the end of a chapter for both Martin and Johnson, who will now move forward with their respective careers and personal lives.
