Cobra Kai Returns for its Final Season

Cobra Kai Returns for its Final Season

The beloved "Karate Kid" sequel series, "Cobra Kai," has returned for its sixth and final season on Netflix. The first five episodes of the season dropped today, picking up where Season 5 left off - with Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence finally taking down the villainous Terry Silver with the help of the cunning John Kreese.

This show, created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, started as a YouTube Red/YouTube Premium series before gaining even more popularity after being picked up by Netflix. The show is set decades after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament featured in the original "Karate Kid" film, following the return of Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso to the world of karate as rival instructors, mentoring a new generation of karate kids.

The cast for Season 6 features the familiar faces of Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Xolo Maridueña, Courtney Henggeler, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio, Dallas Dupree Young, Alicia Hannah-Kim, Griffin Santopietro, Oona O’Brien and Gianni DeCenzo. Along with returning "Karate Kid" alumni like Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith, the series has also featured other familiar faces from the movie franchise like Yuji Okumoto, Elisabeth Shue, Sean Kanan, Robyn Lively, and Tamlyn Tomita.

While fans may be surprised to find that Season 6 only has five episodes available now, the season will actually be the longest yet. This is because it has been split into three parts:

Part 1: Released on November 10th, 2023.

Part 2: Releasing on November 20th, 2023.

Part 3: Releasing sometime in 2025.

The season kicks off with a sense of peace in the Valley, as Johnny and Daniel work together to guide their students and put the chaos of Silver's reign behind them. But John Kreese's presence casts a long shadow, and he is more dangerous than ever before. He has joined forces with Kim Da-eun, who is eager to uphold her grandfather's legacy, and their shared history and combined power pose a serious threat to Johnny and Daniel's efforts.

The creators have revealed that the extended season format allowed them to tie up the storylines of all the characters, giving each of them their own spotlight moments. While some questions may remain unanswered until the final episodes drop next year, fans can look forward to more of the action, drama, and character development that have made "Cobra Kai" such a beloved series.

The legacy of "Cobra Kai" continues, and as the creators themselves have said, “Cobra Kai never dies.”
